    • All of our wicks come pre-trimmed ready for you to light your candle. If you cut the wick before lighting for the first time the wick may now be too short and this can cause tunneling. To correct tunneling allow the candle to burn for awhile until a melt pool has formed across vessel.

    • The ball that forms at the top of your wick is called mushrooming. If "mushrooming" occurs with your candle, we recommend trimming the carbon buildup off the wick between burnings this will help minimize it.

    • In order for a wood wick to stay lit, keep the wood wick very short and trimmed often. If the wood wick extinguishes itself that means the wick is too long and needs to be trimmed. To trim a wood wick cut the wick with a wick cutter, scissors or burn the tip of the wick, extinguish, let cool and then break it off with your fingers.

  • I'm happy to help clear this up for you! With soy candles, there are a couple of natural characteristics that can sometimes surprise people:

    • Scent Throw: Candles have both a cold throw (how they smell before being lit) and a hot throw (how they smell once burning). Some scents are softer on cold throw but really bloom once the wax is warm and the fragrance has a chance to disperse. Since each fragrance blend is unique, some scents will naturally feel stronger or subtler than others.

    • Color Variations: You may notice some discoloration or a creamy tint in the wax.

This often happens because of vanillin, a component found in many cozy scents with vanilla, pumpkin spice, fruity or bakery aromas. It's completely natural and a normal part of working with soy wax and nontoxic, vegan fragrance oils.

The good news is that it doesn't affect the performance of the candle — it's still just as clean-burning and long-lasting.

All of my candles are made with 100% soy wax and non-toxic, phthalate- and paraben-free fragrance oils, so what you're seeing is actually a sign of the natural ingredients doing their thing.

Thank you again for supporting my small business!
